About

Harden Wisebram

Growing up in Atlanta, I always looked forward to summers on my grandfather’s farm, where I learned about animals, food, and the importance of community ties. During my junior year, I was fortunate to attend a high school semester program that deepened my appreciation for sustainability and helped me develop a passion for the outdoors.

This experience gave me the confidence to live in cooperative housing during college, where I ran our local foods program alongside fellow students committed to shared community standards and collective cooking and cleaning. After college, I moved to Maine to work on farms, spending five years growing vegetables, raising livestock, and working in veterinary medicine.

My experiences in animal hospitals and shelters ultimately inspired me to pursue nursing. Prior to Chewonki, I spent six years in emergency rooms, where I loved working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Recently, I’ve been learning about lacto-fermentation and preparing to travel as part of a large-scale rabies vaccination campaign. In my free time, I love watching soccer and look forward to pick-up games on campus.

What Brought Me to Chewonki?

After a few years of travel nursing, I came to Maine to spend the summer with my family. When I saw a nursing job open at Chewonki, it seemed like the perfect way to blend my love of farming, the outdoors, and nursing.
