Cabin Life

Cabin Life

Ask a Chewonki student about a highlight from his or her time here and you’ll often hear stories about impromptu cabin dance parties or time spent gathered around the woodstove telling stories. Those moments shared with cabin mates cultivate friendships; some will last a lifetime.

Maine Coast Semester cabins are rustic but comfortable. Insulated and heated with wood, each cozy lodge can accommodate five to eight students. Bathrooms and showers are located closeby, and semester students are checked-in each evening at 10:00 pm (11:00 pm on Saturdays) by their faculty cabin parents. Each student has two medium-sized bookshelves and space under their bed for storage. Cabins are screen-free zones, but books, journals, games, and instruments are commonplace.
