You are cordially invited to join us in Chapin Hall at Chewonki on Saturday night, May 4, at 7:30pm to a performance by the Halcyon String Quartet hosted by Maine Coast Semester. This event is open to the public, so please share the word!
Halcyon’s latest program, called Realized: Animating a Young People’s Tomorrow, combines stop-motion animation with live string quartet
music to imagine our collective future. With animated films and stories inspired by a series of workshops with Maine high school
students, Realized amplifies the artwork and voices of young people as they reflect on the present and imagine what a resilient, sustainable,
and equitable future on this planet could look like 50 years from now.
Featuring folk tunes and music by Caroline Shaw and Philip Glass, Realized is a creative, honest, and hopeful multimedia program exploring the potential we all have to enact meaningful change in our communities.
Pack up your dancing shoes, grab your loved ones, and join us on the stunning coast of Maine this October for a day of rustic fun and celebration! Chewonki Homecoming is a special one-day event bringing together alumni from all programs to relive memories and make new ones. We’re opening our gorgeous coastal campus to old friends starting in the afternoon for nature walks, family-friendly activities, and a volunteer work project. The evening includes a farm-fresh harvest dinner and traditional contra dance with an experienced caller.
