Dear Chewonki blog readers,
Earlier this morning we finished the yearbook for semester 46. While I would love to tell you as co-head that all went smoothly and as planned, I can’t. As expected with a large undertaking like this, everything that could go wrong did. Nothing was finished on time; we had to convert all of the word documents into pdfs; the computer we were using was having trouble with this conversion; we almost didn’t have a class photo; we didn’t do any tangible work until two weeks before; I lost my voice and could barely make announcements, and any time we needed to find anyone, they were out canoeing or taking the SAT. Yearbook felt like the end of the school year, far away and like it would never get here, but then it did get here. I yelled, panicked, cried, rejoiced, and acted very much like a crazy person, and when I was convinced that all of my friends hated me for acting so crazy, they hugged me and told me they loved me. They gave me the encouragement I needed to push through to the end. At home, I have often doubted my skills as a leader, but being at Chewonki and completing this yearbook, (no matter how difficult it was,) it has given me more confidence than ever. While I may have been miserable and stressed during the yearbook process, seeing the completed hard copy will be extremely rewarding. I will never regret signing up for yearbook staff.
